Marrakech 4 Day Itinerary 2026: The Most Popular Plan from €540

Planning your trip? See our Discover Marrakech guide and what to see in Marrakech.

The most popular Marrakech itinerary in 2026. 4 days is the sweet spot for British, French, Irish and European visitors — enough time to cover all the essentials without rushing, and short enough to fit a mid-week getaway (Wed-Sat or Fri-Mon). Written by Eric, French owner of Riad Vendome since 2013, this is the exact plan we send to about 35% of our incoming guests: Day 1 arrival, Day 2 medina deep dive, Day 3 cooking + spa, Day 4 Agafay desert. Total cost from €540 per person at Riad Vendome (4 nights, breakfast, cooking class, spa session, half-day Agafay desert).

Compared to the 3-day version, the 4-day itinerary adds a full extra day for cultural exploration (palaces, museums, Yves Saint Laurent garden) and gives you breathing room between activities. You sleep better, eat better, and actually relax at the rooftop pool between two excursions. This is the recommended plan for first Marrakech visits, honeymoons, family trips and corporate retreats.

💡 Pro tip from Eric: book Day 3 (cooking + spa) for a weekday, not Saturday — fewer crowds at the spa and Naima can give you more attention during the cooking class. Saturday is best for medina exploration when locals are out and the souks are at their most vibrant.

Day 1 — Arrival, Medina First Walk & Jemaa El-Fna

Afternoon · 14:00-17:00

Riad check-in & first orientation

Land at Marrakech Menara Airport early afternoon (most UK flights arrive 13:00-15:00). Private transfer arranged by Riad Vendome (€15) — meet & greet at arrivals, drive to Dar El Bacha, porter walks you the final 100m through the medina. 15:00 check-in with welcome mint tea and Moroccan pastries on the rooftop. View of the Koutoubia minaret and the Atlas Mountains. Free walking map and 30 min orientation by riad staff (which alleys are safe at night, where to find the best argan oil, how much to pay for a babouche). Optional 1h relax at the rooftop pool with a freshly squeezed orange juice.

Late afternoon · 17:30-19:30

First walk to Jemaa El-Fna at sunset

7 minutes walk through Dar El Bacha and the small souks. Pass Mouassine Mosque, Mouassine Fountain, then arrive at Jemaa El-Fna. The square comes alive at sunset (year-round around 18:00 in winter, 19:30 in summer): snake charmers, monkey trainers, storytellers, henna artists, food stalls. Climb to Cafe de France rooftop (€3-€5/drink) for the iconic view. Stay 30-45 min then walk down for street level photography.

Dinner · 20:30-23:00

Welcome dinner on the rooftop

Best for first night: dinner at the riad rooftop prepared by Chef Naima (€25/person, pre-order from arrival). 3-course Moroccan set menu: starter (zaalouk or harira), main (chicken tagine with lemon-olive, lamb couscous, or vegetable), dessert (Moroccan pastries with mint tea). The relaxing setting eases you into Moroccan rhythm after a flight day. Optional 30 min in the rooftop jacuzzi 36C before bed (free for guests).

Day 2 — Medina Deep Dive (Palaces, Museums, Souks)

Morning · 09:00-13:00

Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs & El Badi

12 min walk from Riad Vendome to Bahia Palace (€4, 1h15) — the most beautiful courtyard in Marrakech. Continue to Saadian Tombs (€5, 30 min) — the famous Hall of the Twelve Columns. Then El Badi Palace ruins (€4, 45 min) — 16th-century palace ruins with stork nests on the ramparts, panoramic view of the medina. Total: 3 sites, €13 entry, 3 hours including transitions. Pro tip: arrive at Bahia at 9:00 sharp (opens 9:00) to beat the cruise tour groups that pile in at 11:00.

Lunch · 13:30-15:00

Lunch at Le Jardin Secret or Nomad

Le Jardin Secret (€12-€20, 10 min walk from El Badi): beautiful Andalusian garden, light Moroccan and international food. Nomad (€20-€35, 8 min walk): modern Moroccan cuisine on a rooftop with Atlas view, book ahead for table 2-3. Cafe Clock (€8-€15): camel burger speciality, vegetarian options, atmospheric. After lunch, optional 30 min coffee at Cafe des Epices (above the spice souk).

Afternoon · 15:30-18:00

Yves Saint Laurent Garden & Berber Museum

Take a taxi (€2-€3) to Jardin Majorelle in Gueliz. Two attractions in one: the Majorelle Garden (€8 entry, 1h) — cobalt blue villa surrounded by exotic plants and bamboo, founded by French painter Jacques Majorelle and saved by Yves Saint Laurent in 1980. The Berber Museum inside the garden (€4, 30 min) — fascinating collection of Berber jewellery, costumes and artefacts. Across the road, the Yves Saint Laurent Museum (€8, 1h) showcases the designer's relationship with Marrakech. Important: book Majorelle tickets online 1-2 days ahead — sells out daily. Optional add-on: walk to the modern district of Gueliz for shopping and a coffee at Le Salama.

Evening · 19:00-22:30

Souks tour & dinner

Taxi back to medina. 1h guided souk tour with the riad's recommended local guide (€25 for 1-4 guests, 19:00-20:30) — best time as the souks are still open but less crowded than midday. Spice souk, leather souk, copper souk, dyers souk. The guide negotiates prices for you. Dinner 21:00 at Atay Cafe (€15-€25, rooftop with great view) or back at the riad for Naima's specialities.

Day 3 — Cooking Class & Spa Day at the Riad

Morning · 09:00-14:00

Cooking class with Chef Naima at Riad Vendome

The signature experience. Chef Naima (rated 5/5 on Google with 47 individual reviews) leads a 4-hour class. 09:00: 30 min souk visit with Naima for ingredients. 10:00-13:00: back at the riad kitchen, prepare 1 starter + 1 main course + 1 dessert. 13:00: taste your own creations on the rooftop. From €65/person. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free on request. See cooking class details.

Afternoon · 15:30-18:30

Hammam, scrub & massage at the spa

Private hammam + 1H massage (€43/person) or complete combo with rooftop jacuzzi 2h30 (€50/person). For couples: rooftop duo massage €66 for 2. After the spa, 30 min in the jacuzzi at 36C. See spa options.

Dinner · 20:30-22:30

Rooftop dinner with mountain view

Stay in for Naima's special tagine (€25/person) or splurge on a 5-course Moroccan tasting menu (€45/person, book by 14:00). The lit-up Koutoubia minaret view at night is the best free entertainment in Marrakech. Pair with Moroccan wine (€18/bottle).

Late breakfast and rooftop pool

Sleep in. Late breakfast on the rooftop until 11:00. Optional second hammam without massage (€22/person) or 1h reading at the rooftop pool. Pack light bag for the desert: scarf for sun and dust, water, comfortable closed shoes, camera, evening layer.

Light lunch in the medina

Light lunch before the desert. Cafe Atay (rooftop, €8-€15), Le Trou au Mur (refined Moroccan, €20-€35), or Henna Cafe (NGO, simple vegetarian €6-€10). Avoid heavy meals before the camel ride.

Return to riad at 22:00. From €55/person. See Agafay desert.
